Mueller State Park

Mueller State Park is one of Colorado's most popular wildlife watching areas. Mueller State Park is home to elk, Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, black bear, hawks, and mule deer. Park visitors can travel the park's numerous trails on foot, snowshoes, cross-country skis, by horseback, and mountain bike depending on the season.

Mueller has two options to stay overnight. There are 132 campsites in the park; 18 of these are open for winter camping. The park also has three cabins for rent year-round.

Ponderosa Cabin

Cabins Are Available at Mueller State Park

Three beautiful log cabins all have a gas fireplace in the living room and are heated with a forced-air furnace. The kitchens are furnished with a modern cooking stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and cooking utensils. Towels and one set of linens per bed are provided. Additional replacement linens and towels will be provided for stays longer than five days.

Pine Cabin

This two-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin has a shower and a full kitchen. Both bedrooms have a queen-size bed. Pine Cabin has a covered deck with a gas cooking grill and patio furniture. This cabin is not wheelchair accessible. $120/night - maximum occupancy: 4 persons of any age.

Spruce Cabin

This three-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin has a shower and a full kitchen. Two bedrooms are located on the upper level and a third bedroom is located in the walkout basement. All bedrooms have a queen-size bed and a common room in the basement has a queen-size sofa sleeper. This cabin has a covered deck with a gas cooking grill and patio furniture and features a view of Pikes Peak. The upper level of this cabin is wheelchair accessible. $180/night - maximum occupancy: 8 persons of any age.

Ponderosa Cabin

This four-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin has 2 showers and a full kitchen. All bedrooms have a queen-size bed and the living room has a queen-size sofa sleeper. Ponderosa Cabin has a large covered deck with a gas cooking grill and patio furniture and features a view of Pikes Peak. This cabin is not wheelchair accessible. $240/night maximum occupancy: 10 persons of any age.

Mueller State Park Campgrounds

Mueller's campground is located in a picturesque forest setting of spruce, fir, pine and aspen trees with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. The park has 132 campsites, including walk-in tent sites and an R.V. Group Campground Loop reservable through the park only. The campground sites reservable dates are from approximately mid-May through mid-October. The exact dates change each year. Reservations are available for the campsites six months prior to the mid-May date. Reservations can be made a minimum of 3 days ahead of your arrival, up to 6 months in advance. Reserve your campsite online, or call Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) 1-800-678-2267, or in the Denver metro area 303-470-1144.

The campground can accommodate motor homes, trailers and tents. The Camper Services Building with modern restrooms, coin operated showers and coin laundry is centrally located in the campground. All campsites, except the walk-in tent sites, have electrical hookups. Water hydrants & vault toilets are located throughout the campground.

There are no sewer hookups, but a dump station is available to registered campers. Please use the dump station. It is illegal to dump any waste or sewage on the ground or vegetation, including dishwater.

Pets are welcome in the campground, picnic areas and along the developed road system throughout the park. Pets must be on a leash at all times and are not allowed on the trails or in the backcountry, as Mueller State Park's backcountry is a Watchable Wildlife Area.

Mueller State Park Offers Winter Opportunities

You can enjoy many activities and accommodations throughout the winter at Mueller State Park. Cross-county ski and snowshoe on the 50 mile trail system. Take the kids sledding on three designated hills with sufficient snow cover. If the snow doesn't cooperate, come out for a brisk winter hike. Stay in one of the winter RV campsites or reserve one of three cabins in the park. All cabins have a gas fireplace, kitchen and bathroom.
