Bicycle Touring in Teller County Colorado

Touring Teller County By Touring Bike

Now you can experience the same type of bicycle touring our Olympic athletes enjoy. Welcome to Teller County, Colorado, one the Olympic bicycle team's regional training courses. Every summer local residents and visitors alike get to view the next possible Olympic medalists as they train along the highways and byways of Teller County.

Bike touring in Teller County is a challenging exercise due to the higher altitude and lack of oxygen. However, this challenge is more then compensated for by the truly magnificent scenery and well mainatined roads.

Cyclists should plan their routes ahead of time to allow for changing weather conditions, varied terrain, and a few more remote road stretches then they may be used to riding.

Popular routes include the Cripple Creek Loop which takes you on Hwy 24 into Florissant where you turn north onto Teller 1 to Cripple Creek. Coming back from Cripple Creek take Hwy 67 north to Divide, Colorado then go east on Hwy 24 again to Woodland Park or down the Ute Pass to Colorado Springs.

This challenging route mixes altitude with tough geography and is guaranteed to test your heart, body, and mind!
