Boating in Teller County, Colorado

Teller County offers you several boating venues. Rampart Reservoir, Skagway State Wildlife Area, and nearby Eleven Mile State Park allow boating while fishing or for boating pleasure.

Rampart is one of the most popular recreational reservoirs in the Pikes Peak region. On any given day, you’ll find friends and family enjoying a picnic lunch, boating, camping or checking out the many trails this area has to offer. We’ve partnered with the U.S. Forest Service to help manage Rampart Reservoir.

  • Inspections are required for all motorized, trailered boats prior to entering the water due to the threat of zebra and quagga mussel infestation. All gas powered motors are to be inspected regardless if the boat is trailered or non-trailered; therefore, gas-powered watercraft are only allowed Thursday through Sunday when the inspection program is active. Please review the information to help expedite your inspection.
  • Non-motorized, trailered boats, such as kayaks and canoes, are allowed on all days without inspections.
  • Access across the dam is permitted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily from mid-May to October.
  • Rental vans or recreational vehicles (Class A, Class B, Class C, Fifth Wheels or Travel/Pop-up trailers) are not allowed to cross the dam.
  • Tow vehicles longer than 22 feet are not allowed to cross the dam.
  • Vehicles of any kind are not allowed to stop on the dam.

Eleven Mile State Park is one of Colorado's most popular fishing reservoirs. A state park access fee is charged and your boat may be inspected for several different aquatic nuisance species. This boating season brings with it mandatory state-certified boat inspections to help prevent the spread of zebra and quagga mussels and other aquatic invasive species (AIS) in Colorado lakes and reservoirs.

More complete boat inspection information can be reviewed here.
